For those with hand luggage only you can self check in on the left side of the hall. You will need to have your passport ready and a boarding pass that can be scanned. The boarding pass can be on your phone or printed. Once through the check scanner you move on to the security check with the baggage x-ray machine, metal detector and search. After this section you walk through a meandering shop and then into the departures lounge. There are lots of shops for gifts, duty free, food and drink.
Flight times are displayed and many information boards throughout. Boarding your plane you will need to show your passport and boarding pass again then walk down the tunnel to the plane or take a short coach ride.
Arrivals is on the airport’s lower level. Once you land you walk to passport control. Have your passport ready. You then enter the arrivals lounge with the baggage carousels and hire car desks. The carousel with your baggage will display the flight number you arrived on. Once baggage is collected you can exit the lounge. Here there are the same hire car desks again. From arrivals you can get a coach at the far right side, you can get a taxi just outside or collect your hire car from the garage just across the road.
The airport is modern and well sized. Queues are not too long and travels are dealt with in good time and efficiently. Once in the departure lounge there is plenty of seating with restaurants, shops and nice views across the runway and to the sea. Flight times to the UK and rest of Europe are in the four hour region.
