Further information

Cesar Manrique created giant sculpture paying homage to Lanzarote Farmers.

Located at the very centre of the island in San Bartolome.

The huge sculpture was created in memory of the strength shown by Lanzarote farmers over the years. Working all day in very adverse conditions the farmers kept residents alive with their food and wine produce.

The sculpture was created out of water tanks from boats and is supposed to represent a farmer and two dogs

There is a museum called the Casa Museo del Campesino. It is open from 10am to 6pm, the restaurant is open from 10am to 6pm.

Campesino Museum

The museum shows how people used to live and work on Lanzarote.

Showcasing many almost forgotten crafts like leather work, clothes dying using the traditional deep purple cochinilla, making of Gofio and Mojo sauces plus weaving hats.
