Lanzarote Markets

There are lots of types of markets in Lanzarote. Almost a  different one for every day of the week.

The most visited and well known is the Teguise Sunday Market located in the old capital. Spread across the rest of the island are farmer markets, arts and crafts, charity markets and more.

Historically the markets were an essential part of survival. The towns were small and spread out specialising in one category of product. Not only was the sharing of resources important but the social interaction as well.

Fiestas balanced this but the markets were the regular main stay. Many of the markets that continue to this day in the out laying towns of Lanzarote have been around for hundreds of years.

Whilst on holiday in Lanzarote it is well worth taking some time and visiting some the authentic markets on the island.
