Golf in Lanzarote
Lanzarote is a great location for an enjoyable game of golf. The warm climate means that at any time of year, you can leave your waterproofs and winter thermals at home and enjoy some golf in the sun. The Lanzarote Golf Course offers a manageable 18-hole course suitable for all levels of golfers. Set on the mostly dry and volcanic island of Lanzarote, this green golfing oasis is a nice place to be and a pleasure for the eye to see.
Puerto del Carmen Golf Course is set adjacent to the popular tourist destination of Puerto del Carmen.
The entire 18-hole golf course is beautifully landscaped, a lush green haven contrasting against the volcanic landscape. Set on a gentle slope angled towards the sea, the views are truly amazing. From any part of the course, you can marvel at the blue sea and even the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura in the distance.
The golf course is a modern design by Ron Kirby. The 18-hole course is a par 72 with a total tee-to-hole distance of 6,133 metres.
Getting to the Golf Course
Puerto del Carmen is centrally located on Lanzarote. This means travel times from anywhere on the island are no more than twenty-five minutes and often much less. From the main tourist resort of Puerto del Carmen, the golf course is just a five-minute drive. From Costa Teguise, it’s a fifteen-minute drive, and from Playa Blanca, the course is twenty to twenty-five minutes.
The course is found along the main road that links Puerto del Carmen and Tias. Follow the sign posts from the roundabout. Parking is next to the clubhouse or in the second car park just across the road.
Once you arrive
There is plenty of parking for a rental car. The clubhouse has lots of facilities. There is a lovely bar and restaurant located beside the putting greens with more amazing views. An eighteen-hole round normally costs around 100 euros; booking online will save you some money.
Golf course facilities
There are electric buggies for hire if you want. If you need a set of golf clubs, you can hire those as well. Newcomers to the game can book lessons from the club pro. To warm up and get some practise, you can use the putting green and driving range.
There is a ‘caddy master’ facility provided by some passionate experts of the course. Regular tournaments take place, with full details online at www.lanzarotegolf.com.
After your game, you can sit and relax in the restaurant, gazing at the views and enjoying a few drinks and a meal.
