Costa Teguise is a suitable holiday destination for the elderly, families and younger visitors. Costa Teguise was built from the ground up for tourism, road access and parking is very good.

Getting to know the different areas of Costa Teguise

The full length of Costa Teguise has a great pedestrian only coastal promenade that links up all the beaches and areas. Known and the ‘paseo maritimo’ it is a great place for a stroll with good views all the way.

South end of Costa Teguise –

In this area are the two Barcelo hotels, with the closest beach of Playa el Ancla (Playa del Rey). There are a few shops, bars and restaurants located in front of the Barcelo Active Hotel. From this area there are a few spread out facilities until you get to the next area of Playa Bastian.

Playa Bastian

This is the next area of Costa Teguise travelling North along the coast from the Barcelo end of town. There is the lovely Playa Bastian beach and a whole host of facilities including a Hiperdino supermarket, lots of businesses plus a good selection of bars and restaurants. The businesses, bars and restaurants in the Playa Bastian area of Costa Teguise mainly cater to couples, families and middle aged to older tourist needs.

Central Costa Teguise

Pueblo Maritimo and Avenida del Jablillo have most of the activity in Costa Teguise centred around them. Pueblo Maritimo is a pedestrian only plaza with a band stand at its centre. Around the edges of this town square like construction are lots of bars and restaurants. Other pathways and roads lead of this thorough fare with even more of a selection of places to eat, drink and shop. Avenida del Jablillo is a dead end road that circles back on itself, on the south side of this road are a lot of bars suited to the younger generation with karaoke, music, games and later opening hours.

Las Cucharas area of Costa Teguise

Around the Las Cucharas beach is a lovely promenade with lots of place to eat, drink and relax whilst overlooking the sea. Inland from the Las Cucharas beach are small small commercial areas with their owner character and even more nice bars and restaurants.

North end of Costa Teguise

Around the Playa de los Charcos area things are quieter than the rest of Costa Teguise. There are several apart hotels, the beach and a few bars and restaurants. Walk a few hundred meters inland along Calle las Acacias to the Aparments Trebol area and there is a good supermarket with another selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

Beaches

All the beaches in Costa Teguise are safe with small to no waves and close to amenities.

The six beaches are, from North to South – Playa de los Charcos, Melia Salinas beach, Las Cucharas beach, Playa Jablillo, Playa Bastian and Playa del Ancla or Playa del Rey.

Evening and nightlife in Costa Teguise

There are three main areas to spend your evenings. The Northern end near Playa de los Charcos and Las Cucharas beaches. The most busy central zone is between Las Cucharas beach and Playa Jablillo. Then around and inland from Playa Bastian is the third  area of Costa Teguise.

Each area has good restaurants, bars and shops. Most banks, hire car companies and a higher density of shops, bars and restaurants can be found in the central area.

The nightlife area of Costa Teguise is in the central area around Avendia del Jablillo with late opening bars playing music by DJ’s.

Costa Teguise has one five star hotel called the Melia Salinas. Set next to Las Cucharas beach, very central with amazing views and a beautiful swimming pool. It was the first hotel in Costa Teguise designed by the islands most famous artist Cesar Manrique.

Getting from Lanzarote airport to Costa Teguise –

There are four ways to get from the airport to Costa Teguise, these are

Bus, Coach, Taxi and hire car. Recommended ways would be Taxi or Hire Car, some resorts and hotels lay on a coach normally for all inclusive guests.

Hire Cars in Lanzarote are very well priced. If you book your hire car from the airport you will also save the taxi costs to and from the airport.

If you wish to get a taxi from the airport to Costa Teguise as you leave the airport on the lower floor there is normally a queue of taxis waiting.

Areas to spend an evening in Costa Teguise

A very popular area in Costa Teguise is Pueblo Marinero. This is a plaza like pedestrian only area with bars and restaurants located around a central band stand.

Food shopping guide to Costa Teguise

Buying food in Costa Teguise is normally more expensive the smaller the supermarket. There is one large supermarket, several medium sized supermarkets and a few small food shops.

The cheapest place to buy food from is at the south end of Costa Teguise in the Supermercado Eurospar. If you do not have your own vehicle or a hire car getting your food shop at the Eurospar can be tricky as it’s around three kilometres from the town centre.

Medium sized supermarkets in the centre of Costa Teguise are the Hiperdino at Playa Bastian, Superdino  Piteras near the post office, Supermercardo Spar Nazaret in the centre of town opposite the La Caixa bank and the Supermercado Spar Trebol near the Aquarium. The prices here are more expensive the the large Eurospar but are much more convenient and usually within walking distance.

Costa Teguise is a purpose built tourist resort only a ten minute drive from the airport. The resort is suitable for holidaymakers of all ages. Costa Teguise is well located on Lanzarote to get all over the island with still plenty of things to do in the resort. Costa Teguise is not too busy or with too little to do, Costa Teguise is just about right.
